The works of Los Supersónicos began in 1998 as the result of a sought and very natural collaboration between, Carlos Fresquez in the U.S. and Francisco Zamora living (at one time) in Mexico. Our early work was created in separate countries. Our approach is unique as we each paint original contributions to our shared project. We create and then recreate these works to look at the multilayered underpinnings of Chicano cultural identity. This introspection has led to work that we both mock and pay homage to traditional icons.

Our tag team paintings display the melding of Mexican, U.S. and global culture in the 21st century. We explore the past indigenous histories of the Americas combined with the complexities of being Chicano. Now that we are in over two decades into the new millennium, we are creating works in the ancient future.
